FAA Medical

Senior FAA AME Services

The Eastern Shore Urgent Care provides FAA medical examinations on a scheduled basis. Please call ahead and a member of our staff will assist you in setting up an appointment. Unlike the general medical services provided by the Eastern Shore Urgent Care, FAA medical exams must be scheduled in advance with our designated medical examiner (AME). Dr. Mahoney is a Senior AME and is designated for FAA class I, class II, and class III medical certificates. Phone interviews are performed by Dr. Mahoney prior to scheduling to make sure everything is in order prior to your medical.

Please register at https://medxpress.faa.gov before arriving for your appointment.

Note: Those using MedXpress for the first time must create an account before filling out forms. For all FAA medicals, it is MANDATORY that you provide an APPLICANT CONFIRMATION NUMBER from MedXpress that you receive after submitting your form. Failure to provide this number may delay the examination or prevent the examination from being performed. This number is different from the FAA IACRA number.

Fill out the 8500-8 form completely, answering honestly. Dr. Mahoney will provide assistance if your exam results in a deferral.

*Effective 01/01/2025, all first time applicants will require a Computerized Color Vision Test. This is performed at the Eastern Shore Urgent Care.

Note: For all medicals, please click the following link to check for any of the listed medical conditions even if you have already had previous FAA exams. This list of conditions is regularly updatedand expanded, as well as the information that is needed pertinent to each condition. (Not all medical conditions are listed, as some medical conditions are automatic deferrals)

If a medical condition is listed that is pertinent, you will need to provide a CURRENT DETAILED CLINICAL PROGRESS NOTE from your treating physician that is generated from a clinic visit within 90 days of your FAA medical. Please click the following link for specific criteria for a current, detailed clinical progress note.

Failure to provide a current, detailed clinical progress note will result in a delay in issuance or even a medical deferral per current FAA regulations.

Once you have completed all of these steps, call the Eastern Shore Urgent Care and request to make an FAA Medical appointment with Dr. Mahoney.
